Be Acne Free: 5 Simple Steps

A well-renowned Russian dermatologist once told me, “one day in dermatology is like three months of your life”. What did he mean? Well, he meant to say that our skin changes very slowly. Remember the last time you got a burn? Remember how long it took before the scar went away? Knowing that, how can you possibly expect any acne solution to clear acne overnight? Clearing acne is a a process that requires discipline and lifestyle of good habits.

To complement any acne treatment regimen that you are on, incorporate the following simple steps into your routine to give your medication the best chance of success and achieve your goal of becoming acne free.

Simple Step #1: Drink lots of water

Water is a universal solvent. It cleans your body and flushes out toxins. Make sure you drink lots of water, evenly distributed through out the day. Carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go if possible. Fruits like watermelon are great as well. Always drink a large glass of water when you wake up and before you go to sleep.

Simple Step #2: Wash your pillow covers, bed sheets and blankets often

Your body temperature increases at night and a lot of oils are released from your face and hair. All of these oils and germs get onto your pillow covers, bed sheets and blankets. Think of your cleanly washed faced rubbing against it. Not good for your acne problem. Make a practice of washing your linen often.

Simple Step #3: Change your face towel daily

Never use the same face towel for more than one day. You can get a pack of six for less than $5 at any departmental store. Also, make sure to never use your hand towel as your face towel. Have separate ones – it will be worth it.

Simple Step #4: Pay attention to what touches your face

Do you wear glasses or sunglasses? Do you wear a cap or hat often, or a hair band? Pay attention to what touches your face and make sure you clean them often. Use alcohol swabs to regularly clean the parts that touch your or just throw them in the washer every so often. This will help reduce any random acne flareups.

Simple Step #5: Rinse your face with water after the gym

Do you go to the gym often? If so, good for you. However, make sure to rinse your face right after to get rid of the sweat. Also, don’t forget to keep that hair off your face with a hair band!

And there you are, easy-to-follow steps that you can incorporate into your routine to becoming acne free!
